Dhorpatan Trek with Gurja Khani via the Chhantyal Villages

This is the itinerary for trekkers who've read about Dhorpatan's Magar and Tibetan-refugee culture in Strategy 1 and want to know what the reserve looks like from its other, western side. Rather than approaching via Dharapani and Jaljala Pass, this route climbs from Darbang through Takam and a demanding series of ridge villages — Muna, Deurali, and finally Gurjakhani, home to the Chhantyal people and their historic copper-mining heritage — before crossing Rugachaur Pass directly into the reserve's own western boundary and descending to Dhorpatan via Gurjaghat and the working Bonpo Monastery at Chentung. This is a genuinely more demanding route than the classic loop: longer daily walking hours, homestay rather than fixed-lodge accommodation for much of the route, and a real cultural immersion with a community distinct from every other named group in this document's own source set.
