Overview
This is the benchmark Langtang Valley itinerary and the one most trekking agencies default to for first-time visitors to the region. It follows the Langtang Khola upriver from the road-end town of Syabrubesi (1,460 m) through subtropical forest, bamboo groves, and rhododendron woodland to Lama Hotel (2,470 m), then climbs above the treeline through Ghodatabela to the rebuilt Langtang Village (3,430 m) — a genuinely moving stop given its earthquake history — before a short, easy final push to the trek's high point at Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m). A full acclimatisation day here includes the classic Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m) hike, delivering a 360° Himalayan panorama without the technical demands of Tserko Ri. The return retraces the same trail, with a long descent day back to Lama Hotel and a final walk out to Syabrubesi. With only one genuinely difficult day (the Kyanjin Gompa–Lama Hotel descent), a single well-placed acclimatisation stop, and no technical terrain anywhere on the route, this is the route to recommend to fit beginners, families with older children, and anyone wanting real Himalayan scenery on a realistic one-week holiday.
