Overview
This route takes everything in the Classic Langtang Valley Trek and adds the region's true showpiece summit: Tserko Ri at 4,984 m, a demanding 6-to-8-hour round trip from Kyanjin Gompa that reaches genuine high-mountain terrain, including permanent ice near the summit. Rather than bolting the extra distance onto an already-tight schedule, this itinerary adds two full days at Kyanjin Gompa — one for the standard Kyanjin Ri acclimatisation hike, a second as an explicit buffer and weather-contingency day before the Tserko Ri attempt itself. This pacing reflects how experienced operators actually build summit-focused Langtang itineraries: Tserko Ri's altitude and terrain genuinely warrant a full extra acclimatisation cycle beyond what the standard route provides, and building in a weather buffer materially improves the odds of a clear-sky summit rather than a wasted attempt in cloud. The trade-off is two extra days and a HARD rather than MODERATE difficulty rating — a fair exchange for what is consistently described as the best panoramic view in the Langtang region, taking in the full Langtang Himal and, on clear days, the Tibetan plateau beyond.
